Sauna Room Planner

Bench heights, door width and ventilation layout for your room dimensions.

How it is calculated

Why these numbers

Heat stratifies hard in a sauna: the air by the ceiling can be 40°F hotter than the air by the floor. The upper bench sits high on purpose so your whole body is up in that heat, and it needs enough headroom above it to sit upright. The lower bench doubles as the step up and a cooler seat for anyone easing in.

Two things this layout does not set for you: the heater’s own clearances to the bench and walls, which vary by model and live in its manual, and the vent sizing itself. Both are covered in the placement guide and the ventilation guide. Confirm bench framing can carry the load, about 250 lb per seated adult.
